Stop Oil Speculation Now is a national campaign of diverse interests, led by the airlines of the Air Transport Association of America, Inc., which advocates restoring fair and open energy markets. By continuing to use StopOilSpeculationNow.com you agree to abide by the terms and conditions below, including the Submission Guidelines and Use Terms.

Privacy Policy
The Air Transport Association of America, Inc. (hereafter referred to as "ATA") is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information that you provide to us when using the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site. This Privacy Policy describes how we treat personal information received about you when you visit the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site. We may make content or services from other Web sites available to you from links located on the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site. These other Web sites are not subject to this Privacy Policy and we are not responsible for the way in which they treat personal information. We recommend that you review the privacy policy at each such Web site to determine how that site protects your privacy.

Information We Collect
If you decide to participate in the campaign, we may use information that we collect from you when you sign up for our newsletter or advocacy activities such as those described below. The success of the campaign will depend in significant measure on our ability to use information from you and similarly interested members of the public for the purpose of restoring fair and open energy markets. Additionally, we may collect personally identifiable information about you that you provide to us, including when you voluntarily submit information to the "Share Your Story" section available from our Site. By signing up for the newsletter, participating in advocacy activities or submitting a story to us, you consent to the collection of information from you and the use of that information by ATA and Stop Oil Speculation Now.

  • General: If you decide to join our newsletter list, or use the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site to participate in advocacy activities, we will collect your name, address (for the purpose of identifying your congressional district to match you to the correct elected official), e-mail address and other information such as your energy usage habits, profession and similar information. We do not, however, knowingly collect any information from minors.
  • Surveys: We may conduct occasional online surveys. For example, when you are within the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site, you may see a pop-up window offering you the optional opportunity of participating in a survey. These surveys are entirely voluntary and you may easily decline to participate.
  • Web Site Usage Information: We automatically collect IP addresses, Web browser and Web site usage information from you when you visit our Web site. This information helps us evaluate how our visitors use and navigate our Web site on an aggregate basis, including the number and frequency of visitors to each Web page and the length of their visits.
  • Comments to "Share Your Story":  We may collect the content of all submissions and comments. We may also collect personally identifiable information about you that you provide to us when you voluntarily post information to the "Share Your Story" section available from our site and other users will be able to see any information that you post to such forums.

How We Use Information Collected
We may use information in the following ways for the purposes for which you specifically provided the information including:

  • To enable us to process, validate and verify Stop Oil Speculation Now newsletter subscriptions
  • To send campaign updates or requests for additional advocacy actions by e-mail to newsletter subscribers
  • To identify your elected officials based on your address or ZIP Code for the purpose of facilitating the sending of advocacy messages to the elected officials who represent you
  • To maintain a record of campaign activity only available to ATA and its approved agents
  • To conduct the campaign to restore fair and open energy markets

We may also disclose or use your registration information when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires us to do so.

Security
The information that we collect about you is stored in limited-access servers. We will maintain safeguards to protect reasonably the security of these servers and your information.

Registration Information Update
You may cancel your newsletter subscription at any time by sending an e-mail message to sosnow_list@capwiz.mailmanager.net with the word "unsubscribe" in the subject line, or by visiting this page and entering your e-mail address in the unsubscribe box.

If you unsubscribe from the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site, your information and previous activities will be retained in our database, but we will discontinue our communications with you. We may, however, continue to use information previously collected from you in the campaign to restore fair and open energy markets.

Policy Modifications
We may change this Privacy Policy from time to time without notice to you. We will post any changes on the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site, so be sure to check this page periodically.

Transfer to United States
If you are located outside of the United States, please note that the information you provide to us will be transferred to the United States. By registering on the Stop Oil Speculation Now Web site, you consent to this transfer.

Submission Guidelines and Use Terms
Site visitors are encouraged to submit their personal stories about how the high price of energy is affecting their families, businesses and communities. We ask that you post comments that are relevant to the topic. All submissions and comments to the Web site (sometimes referred to as "content") will be reviewed by the Site Administrator. The Site Administrator and ATA have no obligation to any visitor to approve any content for publication on the Web site. We reserve the right to edit any submission or comment to strike language that we deem offensive or to reduce the length of any submission. By submitting content, you expressly authorize ATA and Stop Oil Speculation Now to use all or any part of such submission in the campaign to restore fair and open energy.

As a general matter, you may submit relevant content so long as the submitted material is not illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, infringing of intellectual property rights of others, invasive of privacy rights or otherwise objectionable or offensive. 

By submitting content, you warrant and represent that you either own or otherwise control all of the rights to that content, including, without limitation, all the rights necessary for you to provide, post or submit the content, or that your use of the content is a protected fair use. You agree that you will not knowingly submit material that is misleading or false. You represent and warrant also that the content that you supply does not violate these Guidelines and Use Terms, and that you will indemnify and hold ATA and the Site Administrator harmless from any and all claims resulting from the content that you submit. All content posted is the sole responsibility of the individual who originally submits the content, and all opinions expressed by users of this site are expressed strictly in their individual capacities and not as representatives of ATA or Stop Oil Speculation Now. 

If you submit content, you certify that you are at least 13 years of age. Please do not submit content if you are under the age of 13. If you are between ages 13 and 18, you must have the permission of, and be supervised by, a parent or legal guardian. Parents and guardians are fully responsible for such submissions and any related legal liability.

ATA and the Site Administrator shall have the right to remove, at their sole discretion, any content that is considered to violate the terms and conditions governing the use of this Web site and submissions to it. We further reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to remove a user's privilege to post content on this site.

For any content that you submit, you give us permission to use that content without reservation. You hereby grant to ATA and Stop Oil Speculation Now a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide but nonexclusive license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, incorporate into other works, distribute, perform, display and otherwise exploit such content, in whole or in part in any form, media or technology now known or later developed for purposes of the campaign to restore fair and open energy.
